CORBSIE’S VIEW ON PLAYOFF GAME #3 SERIES 2

So before Corbin starts we had missed a answer to his Q&A from last game so I’m going to add it in now as he has decided to just let the boys concentrate this game no Q&A. Some player’s are coaching the jr NLL tournament this weekend.

Q: DO you have a special routine that you do before you go on the turf? How do you think your teammates will play tonight?  So it was BRAD SELF: (sorry!) A: Hey Corbsie nothing really special. Lots of rolling around on lacrosse balls and rollers to get loose. I think my teammates are going to continue to do great.

So now is Corbin’s Stars of the game. It was hard for him to pick 1st 2nd 3rd there was alot of names on each, so he did a first star and then a list of names who stood out to him in no particular order.

FIRST * PETERBOROUGH LAKERS

CORBSIE’S Q&A SERIES 2 GAME 3 AT HOME!

SO THE QUESTION OF THE GAME WAS DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL ROUTINE THAT YOU DO BEFORE YOU GO ON THE FLOOR?   HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR TEAMMATES ARE GOING TO PLAY?

JAKE FOX: Hey Corbsie, as far as I know I’m in the line up and playing tonight. (Corbsie’s reaction ) WOOOHOOO and pumped his hands in the air did a little dance not pumped at ALL. So carrying on with the answer. The only thing I would say I do is the exact same stretches in the exact same order and Crack my back as much as possible. I’m expecting a big game from the whole team.

SCOTT SELF: I do a little bit of mobility work and drink coffee. I like to go on floor 10 min. Before and play wall ball. I think we’re going to come out and have a great and play with lots of energy.

ZACH CURRIER: No I don’t really have any routines and I think they’re gonna play awesome as always, hopefully I get to play tonight!

GOOD LUCK BOYS I’LL BE THERE CHEERING YOU ON I’M PUMPED AND NERVOUS BUT KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! CORBSIE OUT!

JUST HOW MUCH SOME OF THE LAKERS BOYS HAVE COME TO MEAN TO CORBSIE!

Obviously all who know Corbin knows he has a love for the game of Lacrosse and is a huge fan of the Peterborough Lakers. Since Corbin was five he has gone to Nationwide’s Summer camp, this past year he did there Winter League and March Break camp. He got so comfortable with Brad Self and Shawn Evans he invited them to his birthday party. Corbin is shy he doesn’t talk much when he does its not loud but he observes and studies, trains and practices for hours a day. The skills he has learned through Nationwide are unbelievable and I highly recommend their camps and leagues. There are not many things that hold his attention for longer then 10min. So when we find something we do everything we can to get him in it.

Now I’m sure or probably just paranoid that those who don’t know us or Corbin may think we are just pushing him into all this and forcing him outside until passed dark to train. I assure you that has nothing to do with us. Corbin feels very passionate about sports it doesn’t even have to be lacrosse he also loves baseball, hockey, football, boxing  and training to name a few.  We also do not force him to go into the dressing room to talk to the boys yes sometimes we may say hurry up because we are tired that is all.

Corbin’s first year at camp he really took a liking to Shawn he was louder, joked around had lots of energy like Corbin. He really liked Brad but he seemed quiet more serious. The secound year of camp it switched he took to Brad more and they had junior Lakers there as well. We would go to games and Brad would yell Corbsie and took him into the dressing room a couple times he thought that was pretty awesome. Winter league he meet Cory, Weisser, Hopey and said they were all super and awesome guys he also meet Briefly Jake Fox a junion laker atending Jon Hopkins on a Lacross Scholarship. His coach briefly was Turner Evans but due to the NLL Toronto Rock start date he had to leave, Corbin had the privilege of being coached by Mr. Bobby Keast himself he really liked him as a coach and what a super nice guy. Corbin continued to meet the lakers through games and practices he got to meet Tracey Kelusky and got to talk to him a bit earlier on thought that was cool! He Became pretty close with Jake Fox also.

This summer Corbin was coached by Jake “Foxy ” Fox himself and had alot of fun. He really likes Foxy and really looks up to him and says he is going to miss him when he goes away to school. He always takes the time to say hi to Corbsie and have a little “Suitor ” fight together. He talks alot about Jake Withers, Josh and Zach Currier, Robert Hope, Evan Kirk, Joel Mathews, Chad Culp, Cory Vitarelli  ( who at one practice literally let Corbin follow him around) sometimes Mark Steenhuis, Scott and Brad Self, Shawn Evans and of course his best bud Jake Fox.

I don’t know how to describe what his friendship or role model relationship is as I’m not Corbin and he just looks at me like what? So I will try and put it into words from my point from hearing his words about the boys through our discussions. Corbin goes into the dressing room  to see the boys and to make sure they know they played a good game win or lose, he refuses to talk about how sad players looked if they lost or how worried he is when they look like they really got hurt. He always says he feels bad for them and it’s to sad I don’t want to talk about it I just hope their ok and they are back to win the next one. I never ask for anything or get anything signed as I have stuff signed at home already. I have seen and heard kids ask for balls, selfies, there gloves and it’s kind of embarrassing I feel bad for the players. I go for them not there stuff. Phew! Corbin brought a thank you card for one of the players and a boy his age beside him said what was that for? Corbin just shook his head no at him. ” I refused to tell him because I knew he would expect the same and that would not be fair to the player.  It was not something I asked for it was a gift” Those players are what makes Corbin want to train and gives him the drive and determination to one day be as good as them and maybe one day be lucky enough to be a Peterborough Laker.

ALL I CAN SAY AS A PARENT IS THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR BEING THE ROLE MODELS A PARENT DREAMS OF FOR THEIR KIDS. I APPRECIATE EVERY MI UTE YOU TAKE WETHER IT’S A HEY BUD, HIGH FIVE, KNUCKLES OR YOU CHIT CHAT FOR A BIT IT MEANS ALOT TO HIM. IT ALSO IS VERY HEARTWARMING TO SEE YOUR CHILD COME OUT OF HIS SHELL AND BE ABLE TO TALK TO PEOPLE HE LOOKS UP TOO AND HAVE THEM TALK BACK! MUCH RESPECT TO YOU AND OUR FULL SUPPORT AS A FAN.

CORBSIE’S Q&A GAME 2 SERIES 2

Huge Thank you to @jvivideo, JVI Sports Network, Jvisportsnetwork youtube channel please subscribe! For Streaming the away games for the fans who cannot be there to cheer! A huge thank you to all the sponsers who have made it possible for the streaming to be free! They NEED MORE sponsers so home bound fans can watch the away games. So if you or you know anyone please share and get ahold of them. Thank you Rachel (Corbsie’s Mom shhhhh I’m not supposed to write on here)

QUESTION: HOW ARE YOU FEELING? ARE YOU EXCITED OR NERVOUS?

JAKE FOX: Feeling good and feeling a little of both.

ZACH CURRIER: (answer from last week didn’t get to it before I posted sorry) Felt pretty good before the game. Had tons of down time this week so the legs are well Rested. I’m not a huge fan of working out so I’d say my favourite training exercise is just getting a bucket of ball’s and shooting for an hour or so. THIS WEEKS: Felling good man, would be nice to win game 2 up in their barn but it’ll be a tough one for sure.

ROBERT HOPE:  Feeling ok for the most part and feeling a little bit of both.

JOSH CURRIER: Feeling really good and excited. Nerves don’t really kick in until right before the game for me.

CORBSIE’S QUESTION FOR COACH BOBBY KEAST: DO YOU GIVE A SPEECH TO THE PLAYERS AND ARE THERE PLAYERS THAT GET THE TEAM PUMPED BEFORE GAME? WHAT DO YOU YELL FROM THE BENCH?

COACH BOBBY KEAST: All coaches have something to say and there are always one ot two players that pump things up. Don’t need to yell too much from the bench. LOL cheer us on from Peterborough. ( mom again hmmmm note to remind Corbsie not good questions to ask coaches maybe a little to close to comfort. I think the bench one is because he asks me of all people so I just say loose ball, defense I don’t know!)

GOOD LUCK BOYS WILL BE WATCHING AND CHEERING FROM HOME! CORBSIE OUT

CORBSIE’S TAKE ON GAME 1 SERIES 2

Game was very stressful. I was nervous they might not win. They were down first two periods but in the third they got to 10-10 hoping they wouldn’t lose. When they didn’t score it went into overtime it was yeah! And oh this going to be stressful. First overtime was good Lakers was 11-10 most of it but then Six Nations scored so 11-11. Went into double overtime 10 minute period or sudden death I was so STRESSED! Kirk made some incredible saves and bam Jonsey snipped it and I went CRAZY!

JONSEY: Six goals! Including WINNING goal. Played great. Pretty cool how he hung onto the ball forever when he was smashed up against the boards, he was up and down smashed and smudged still kept the ball in his stick the crowd was crazy.

EVANS: Played good, quick feet he had alot of players on him, still managed to get some goals and assists!

KIRK: Evan did two Kirk crunches played good in net. Made some cool and awesome splits, shoulder saves. Did GREAT in overtime.

Z CURRIER: Fast feet, NICE jumping catch! Played hard.

CULP: Played good, good goals, quick to get open, quick to protect his teammates!  Not afraid.

STEENHUIS: Nice penalty kills, good goal.

JOHN GRANT JR.: Got good goal, played really well even though I knew he was tired and sore!

MATTHEWS: Got in a scramble by boards protecting teammates. Played really good.

B SELF: Nice scoops and passes up on the run.

WITHERS: Got the ball, did good faceoffs played good defense.

HOPEY: Plays hard every shift, checks, digs, defends his house really good and comes out with the ball ALOT!

CORBSIE’S Q&A GAME 1

My boys made into series two I new they would. So her is my question and answer.

QUESTIONS: What is your favorite training exercise? and are you Rested and ready?

SCOTT SELF #6 CAPTAIN: I d alot od mobility training to keep my body feeling loose. The week off has been good and I’m ready to go.

JAKE FOX #7: I feel really good after the long break break. My favourite training exercise is wall ball.

JOSH CURRIER#27: It was real nice getting a lot of rest between series, I’m feeling great. I’d say my favourite training for lacrosse would be lining up a bunch of balls in front of the net and working on my inside finishing.

BOBBY KEAST: Favorite training drill is 2 on 1 continues. Feeling good about starting home!

I’m  excited and nervous good luck boys see ya after! CORBSIE OUT

MY BOYS WON FIRST SERIES!

Well unfortunately I couldn’t go to Oakville watch it on TV and I don’t have twitter so I didn’t see the game. My mom has twitter so she let me stay up so I new what was going on she was stressed out and then excited.

So she told me ZACH, WITHER’S and WEISSER did really good penalty killing. WEISSER 1G, HOAR scored 1G off of WITHERS Face off win, STEENHUIS 2G power play goal and a jump goal, TUTTON 1G behind left shoulder, CULP 1G whipped one in, VINC didn’t let a goal in in third.

When it was over and the score was 6 – 4 I jumped up and down on mom’s bed cheering!

ZACH CURRIER #77 :  Wrote me on the way home from the game, he said VNO played awesome and we scored when we had to. Great all around team win.

I’m excited, happy and proud of my boys! CONGRATULATIONS I new you could do it. Can’t wait until Sunday in Peterborough! Let’s Go Lakers 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏.

CORBSIE OUT14708437052451224257843

Corbsie had a bit of a hard time because he couldn’t physically see the game. He thought I was weird when I was talking to twitter and cheering, biting my nails. He did cheer and jump on the bed when the count down was on. He is very proud and I must Thank you Peterborough Lakers for allowing Corbsie to talk to you after the game I know having a kid running around the dressing room could be a bit much. You have truly made him feel part of the team and have made him have a goal to work towards and is already training for to one day be a PETERBOROUGH LAKER! Thank you from Corbsie’s Mom.

CORBSIE’S Q & A BEFORE PLAYOFF GAME #6

images

The question for playoff game #6 to my boys was “How are you feeling about game 6?, What song do you listen to that gets you pumped?” My songs are TNT, Centuries and Hall of Fame.

JOSH CURRIER #27: I’m really excited going into tonight’s game. Nothing beats winning a playoff series and that’s what we are hoping for tonight. I like to listen to the song Five Hours before games.

ZACH CURRIER #77: Hoping to be able to close out the series but they definitely won’t make that easy so it’ll be a tough game. I’m not really picky with music I’ll listen to pretty much anything.

HOLDEN CATTONI #99: Feeling good about the game, excited! I listen to enter Sandman.

JAKE FOX #7 (when he plays): I’m hoping we come out with a lot of energy like game 5 and control the pace of the game. A song that pumps me up would be lose yourself by Eminem.

BRAD SELF #25: I’m excited for tonight’s game. Last game was the type of emotional game we all play. Hopefully tonight we bring more of that emotion. Sorry you can’t make it see you next game in Peterborough.

GOOD LUCK BOYS I KNOW YOU GOT THIS! #1 FAN WIN OR LOSE

CORBSIE’S VIEW ON PLAYOFF GAME #5

Many people have been asking Corbsie if this is actually his blog or if his mom does it. Well to make things clear his mom types it because Corbsie doesn’t want to sit still long enough to type it. All the comments though are Corbsie’s he loves his Lacrosse and his boys that is why he refuses to vote for fan favorite. So with that cleared up here is Corbsie’s comments.

EVAN KIRK #35: Played awesome! LOVED the Kirky crunch and the cool slide into goal for save. He played his best.

CORBSIE ” what was it like playing in net tonight?” KIRK ” it was tough and hot”

JOEL MATTHEWS #91: Got in a fight standing up for himself and his teammates. Good goal, quick and high energy.

CORBSIE ” Good fight” MATTHEWS “thanks buddy”

NICK WEISSER #45: He protected his teammates awesome goal on a breakaway played his hardest.

ZACH CURRIER #77: Played hard defense played fast got a nice empty netter goal.

CORBSIE ” what do you think it was like playing tonight with Oakville?” ZACH “it was good lots of energy in he crowd thanks to the fans. It’s good to have people like you Corbsie.

JOSH CURRIER #27: Played all of his shifts strong, fast offense played his best.

SHAWN EVANS #88: Played awesome two goals, got pushed around alot. I got worried because of his injury. It made him play stronger. Made me feel mad when the refs didn’t call his bad checks.

ADAM JONES #16: Bow down played tree trunk strong, good goal, good passes, catches awesome goal.

CORY VITARELLI #23: Played awesome got goal, stands strong, plays strong and tough.

JAKE WITHERS #10: Played heavy, good on defense played fast, smart played strong.

WITHERS “nice blog bud” CORBSIE “thanks”

CHAD CULP #21: Pushed around but pushed back, tried to make diving goal but got pushed. Played fast, good at finding picks. Funny when pushing back on defense Oakville made him look like a booblehead.

SCOTT SELF #6: Awesome goal while players were against the boards looking for the ball llord was stepping on it and passed it out scooped it up and scored.

After game had my usual Suitor fight with my buddy Foxy. Next game I’ll bring glasses for the refs. The boys played hard. Congrats on the WIN!  GOOD LUCK MONDAY CORBSIE OUT!14708437052451224257843
